Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony

The Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony is modeled on professional orchestras, playing a wide variety of original orchestral compositions, including full concertos in both the fall and spring programs. This ensemble is appropriate for advanced student musicians who demonstrate technical mastery and beauty of expression. KVYS offers the opportunity to perform with other outstanding middle & high school students who are excited to expand their musical horizons!

Previous ensemble experience and private instruction are highly recommended. Students are expected to continue participation in their school orchestra and/or band programs.

KVYS is conducted by the energetic & inspiring Jinwook Park, who performs, directs, and teaches in Boston and at Colby College. Known for his infectious enthusiasm and his delight in working with young musicians, Jin offers students the opportunity to engage with the music at the highest level, breathing life and depth into their performance.

This is what his students say about working with him as their conductor:

“Jin is awesome! He treats us like professionals.”

“I love all the composers and styles of music!”

And: “It’s the real deal!”

KVYS meets at Hope Baptist Church (726 Western Ave, Manchester) on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to 8:45pm.

We hold regular auditions in September, February, and May, but rolling auditions are available throughout the year. To schedule, contact our Education Director, Betsy Kobayashi.
